\n\nOur Junior School has a highly competitive and strong debating culture. Many of our teams have won grand finals in the Independent Primary Schools Heads of Australia (IPSHA) debating competition.
\nOur debating teams also compete against other schools within the Eastern Region Catholic Schools Debating Competition.
\nOur Public Speaking Competition is for all students from Kindergarten through to Year 6 and encourages our students to become confident well-rounded individuals.
\nWe offer music classes as part of our curriculum, however Junior School students can also participate in various co-curricular music activities, including:

\nIn 2027, KRB will be offering a Year 5 Honours Program.
\nThis two-year program has been thoughtfully designed for high potential and gifted learners who are ready to embrace a greater level of academic stretch within a supportive and connected environment.
\nLed by an experienced teacher with specialist training in gifted education, the Honours Class will offer a faster-paced learning experience with a deeper exploration of concepts within the Year 5 curriculum and beyond. Students will collaborate with like-minded peers, engage with Senior School specialist staff, and access specialist learning spaces including our STEM and science facilities.
\nStudents in the Honours Class will remain closely connected to the wider Junior School. They will share timetables, play breaks, excursions and community events, maintaining friendships and a strong sense of belonging.
\nThe program reflects our belief that excellence looks different for every learner. When children are given the right combination of challenge, care and opportunity, they grow in both confidence and capability.

Grouping high-potential and gifted students with like-ability peers requiring similar complexity and challenge is a research-based practice that effectively meets their learning needs. Students in the KRB Honours Class will benefit from a faster-paced learning environment and deeper exploration of concepts within the Stage 3 (Year 5 and 6) curriculum and beyond.
\nThe Honours Class will comprise of 22 students (this may vary from year to year) and will run alongside the other Year 5 classes. It is a two-year program (Years 5 and 6), beginning with Year 5 in 2027. From 2028, we aim to offer two Honours Classes in the Junior School – one in Year 5 and one in Year 6.
\nThe class timetable will closely mirror that of other Year 5 classes. Lunch breaks, excursions and special events will be shared across the year group to support the development and maintenance of friendships throughout the cohort.
\nAn experienced educator with training in gifted education will teach all core subjects for the Honours Class. Students will also experience specialist Senior School teachers and facilities to promote deep learning of skills at various times throughout the program.
\nAs with all Year 5 classes, students in the Honours Class will attend specialist classes for STEM, Music, Band, Languages (French/Chinese), Physical Development/Health and Physical Education, and Library.

Parents of students entering Year 5 in 2027 – both current KRB families and those considering future enrolment – are welcome to apply.
\nFamilies are invited to indicate their interest in applying for the Honours Class by completing an Expression of Interest Form. Applications open in the first week of November via our website and close at the end of January. The process includes submitting a questionnaire and portfolio, along with fees associated with the AAS testing. Students will sit a placement test on Monday, 16 February 2026. Interviews will follow for applicants not currently enrolled at KRB.
\nKincoppal-Rose Bay fees are applicable to students in the Honours Class. This a non-refundable fee of $5,000 for each student on acceptance of offer. Please visit krb.nsw.edu.au/admissions/fees to view our full tuition fee schedule.
\nAll applicants who sit the placement test will automatically be considered for a scholarship. We plan to award one two-year scholarship for the 2027 Year 5 Honours Class.
\nStudents selected for the Years 5 and 6 Honours Class are guaranteed entry into KRB Senior School. However, placement in the Years 5 and 6 Honours Class does not guarantee entry into the Senior School Honours Classes. Students will be required to sit an additional placement test.

\nAt Kincoppal-Rose Bay, student wellbeing is developed through KRB’s unique SELF+ Framework (Social, Emotional, Learning to Flourish), designed to support every student to be the best version of themselves.
\nThe transition into Senior School is a significant aspect of one’s schooling and KRB has a strong program of support that enables this transition to be as effective as possible. Year 7 students benefit from a targeted program to assist this transition, and some activities within the program are: an Outdoor Education Camp, Vertical Wellbeing (where they interact with students from different year groups in their House), Big Sister/ Little Sister and the Peer Support program, all of which foster connection and a sense of belonging. Staff are also very aware of meeting the individual needs of all Year 7 students and prioritise the importance of ensuring each student is well-known and valued as she commences in the Senior School.

\nThe Senior School Honours Program provides a differentiated curriculum and appropriate academic challenge for our gifted and high potential learners from Years 7 to 10 in key subjects including English, Mathematics, Science, Religion, PDHPE, History and Geography.
\nWhen students move into Year 9, they can include a number of Cambridge International IGCSE courses as part of their academic program. Introduced in 2024, this internationally recognised curriculum presents a range of opportunities for transformative learning. In 2026, the IGCSE subjects that will be available include English Literature, Mathematics, Combined Science, Chinese, Computer Science, French, Global Perspectives and Marine Science.
\nKRB’s Homework Centre offers academic support for students in Years 7 to 12, operating Monday to Thursday from 3:30pm to 6:00pm for day students and until 8:30pm for boarders. Located in the Mary Agnes O’Neil Library, students are supported in small groups by teachers and tutors across a range of subjects as they complete homework tasks or revision work, prepare for assessment tasks, seek assistance with challenging topics and develop study and organisational skills.
